Should someone be forced to criticize something because it is the popular thing to do?
Lakers coach Phil Jackson is getting heat for refusing to criticize Arizona’s new law. Wow! As a sports figure, was he expected to fuel a legal debate?

If he doesn’t wish to talk about how he feels about this debate, then he is not obligated to do so. He is not even directly connected with politics. He’s a figure in sports. I think this goes to show how unnecessary things have become regarding this new law in Arizona. The law being passed in that state is merely political. It has nothing to do with Phil Jackson. If he doesn’t want to talk about it, he shouldn’t have to. It would be different if he were involved in politics but he isn’t. He is entitled to his privacy and he should stand his ground.
