Basketball Court Light

I have a cup "light" for a reception hall wedding – Does anyone have any suggestions on how?
I have my wedding in a room of a church that is basically a basketball court. I want to make the most romantic room and hide the basketball hoops, making it look as a tent with a canopy of lights. Any suggestions would be great!
If you can find, I'd use the lights "network" that you can get a Christmas. They're just big squares of lights intertwined that somewhat resembles a fishing net. If the wedding is at least a month away so they should be easy to get at places like Wal Mart. You could use fishing line tied in different places to get the draping effect you need to make it look like a tent.
